Planning A Business Career In Sports?

Introducing The MBA In Sports Marketing
And Management From UNC Charlotte.

In the $350 billion sports industry, trained business professionals are in high demand. Now you can step out of the starting gate and become an MVP with an MBA in Sports Marketing and Management from the highly acclaimed UNC Charlotte Belk College of Business. You’ll benefit from traditional MBA classes to enhance your business and management skills, while also choosing specific courses geared directly to your interests in the sports industry. And because our highly selective two-year, full-time program includes a six-month internship working in the sports industry, you’ll enjoy valuable hands-on experience from seasoned pros.

Enjoy A Tremendous Home Field Advantage.

The University of North Carolina at Charlotte is a renowned research university offering a wide range of undergraduate and graduate degree programs, including masters and doctoral. Part of one of the oldest public university systems in the United States and accredited by AACSB International, the gold standard in business education, our expanding modern campus is home to more than 22,000 culturally diverse students.

Charlotte, too, offers tremendous advantages. The second largest banking center in the country and among the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the nation, the area is also home to a multitude of professional sporting enterprises: the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Lowe’s Motor Speedway, the Carolina Panthers, the Charlotte Bobcats, the Sting, the Charlotte Knights, the Charlotte Checkers, the Wachovia PGA Championship and more. Additionally, it’s estimated that more than two-thirds of all NACSAR race teams and motorsports-related ad agencies, consultants and marketing organizations have a presence in the Charlotte region.

It’s Your Field Of Dreams.

While the focus is on sports, the MBA in Sports Marketing and Management puts business first. In the first year of the program, you’ll take traditional MBA classes, such as finance, organizational behavior and accounting. However, you’ll also be learning about the business of sports in these courses through case studies and industry-specific discussions. For example, in Business Law you’ll go beyond the study of basic contracts and get detailed information about sports contracts, negotiations and player/agent legal issues. Two summer classes – Marketing of Sports and Marketing through Sports – will help further prepare you for elective courses.

The enhanced focus on the field of your dreams occurs in the second year. Whether it’s professional team sports (such as football, basketball, baseball or soccer), motorsports, individual sports and event management, or client-side marketing, you’ll benefit from numerous opportunities to tailor the coursework and choose electives that meet your specific interests. In the final semester of the curriculum, a six-month internship with a sports organization in the Charlotte region will offer you hands-on training and valuable insight.
